Alison would love to visit your kindy or school to give a fun, interactive presentation about creating stories.
Depending on the audience, she can talk about:
*How she became an author
*What makes up a picture book and how does it come together
*The inspiration behind her stories
*Where do her ideas come from and how does she do research
*The themes and deeper meaning in her books
*How long does it take to write a picture book
*The relationship between writer and illustrator
*How she got her books published
*Story structure, characters, and language
For Little people, Alison can do book readings and singing.
For older children, Alison can talk more about the writing and publishing process, story structure, character development, language choices, editing and how to find ideas.
30 and 60 minute sessions available – in person or online.
Presentation can be linked to what the children are studying, or can be structured around a theme, such as kindness and curiosity or caring for the environment.
FESTIVALS AND CONFERENCES / WRITING WORKSHOPS
Alison is available for author talks and writing workshops at literary festivals, conferences and libraries and can present on topics such as:
*Themes and meaning in children’s books
*Story structure, character development, language choices
*From creative magic to inspiration and research
*How to get published / publishing pathways
*What are the rules of picture book writing / what are the different types of picture books
*The writing community in Australia and how to be part of it
*A great start and a strong finish / beginnings and endings of picture books and why they’re so important
*How to create a great submission
*So you got a contract.. what happens next?
1 hour author talks and presentations, half day and whole day workshops available.
Rates:
In Person School / Kindy Visits – $325 for 1 Hour / $160 for 30 minutes (up to 110 children)
Online School / Kindy Visits – $300 for 1 Hour / $150 for 30 minutes
