Alison McLennan is a Brisbane-based children’s author, professional voiceover artist, singer, actor and mother of two. She is a proud member of SCBWI and Writelinks.

Alison’s picture books include Hotel For Bees (State Library of Old), Growing Pains (EK Books), Great and Small (Storytorch Press), Birdie Lights Up the World (EK Books) and How to Get Rid of a Princess (Hardie Grant). Alison’s Junior fiction titles include Calamity Jones: A Flamingo For Christmas (Five Mile).

Alison’s graphic novel, A Flood In The Village, was published by Library For All in 2020 as part of their natural disaster education series, and her picture book Safi and Safiyah was included in their Books For Gaza series in 2026. Alison’s short stories have appeared in The School Magazine and the Spooktacular Stories Anthology. Her story, “Light Up The World” was shortlisted in the 2021 Bee Ethicool international author competition, and her picture book, Great and Small,  was shortlisted in the 2023 Forevability Awards.

Alison loves Book Week more than Christmas, and enjoys presenting to schools and doing story time sessions in her favourite book stores, every chance she gets.

She can tailor her presentation to suit any age group, from storytime and singalongs for younger children, to author talks about creative writing and the publishing process for older children.

Alison is also available for festivals and writing workshops for adults.
